Almond Coffee Cake


1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Almond Topping (recipe follows)


Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add the eggs, milk, flour, baking powder, and vanilla, blending thoroughly. Pour into a greased 11x7-inch pan.

Spread the topping evenly over the batter and bake in a preheated 350degree oven until golden brown, about 30 minutes. Let cool before cutting.
