Brown Breakfast Bread

Dark brown, dense, sweet, and spicy. Be sure the baking dish is well greased so the bread can be easily removed. Serve warm from the oven with butter or cream cheese. –Hawthorne Inn, Concord, Massachusetts


3/4 cup honey
3/4 cup molasses
3-1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ginger
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons allspice
Dash of salt
2 cups milk
1 cup raisins
1 to 2 tablespoons marmalade


Beat together honey and molasses. Add all but last ingredient and blend well, then stir in marmalade. Bake in a large well-greased baking dish at 350 degrees F for 1-¼ hours.
