Chinese Chews


1/2 cup butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup chopped mixed nuts
1/4 cup dates, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped seedless raisins
1 tablespoon coconut
3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour


Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat the eggs and add them. Stir in the nuts, dates, raisins and coconut. Mix well. Add the flour and beat until blended.

Bake in an 8x8-inch greased pan for 40 minutes at 350 degrees F. Cut into bars while warm.


Makes about 16 bars.
