Christmas Fruit Cookies


1 cup butter, creamed
1 cup brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped raisins
1/2 cup currants
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup coconut


Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Combine butter, sugar, and eggs and beat until light. In separate bowl sift together dry ingredients, add fruit, and mix well. Add butter mixture and stir into a stiff dough. Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet, flatten, and bake for about 15 minutes.


Makes 5 dozen.
