Serve with a salad for a complete meal.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Scald the milk; cut slices of bread in half, soak in milk, and line bottom of a greased baking dish with them. Beat egg yolks and mix in cream; add milk used for soaking bread, seasonings, and cheese, and stir until blended. Beat egg whites until stiff, fold into mixture, and pour over bread in baking dish. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until knife inserted comes out clean.
