No-Crust Apple Pie


5 medium apples ('Jonathan', 'Cortland', or 'Delicious' variety)
1 cup, plus 1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
3/4 cup melted butter
1 cup flour
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped nuts


Core and slice apples, but do not peel them. Fill 9-inch pie plate two-thirds full of apples, then sprinkle with a tablespoon each of sugar and cinnamon. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over apples. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. Serve hot or cold.


Makes 6 servings.
