Oatmeal Bread


1 1/2 cups boiling water
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup warm water
1 package dry yeast or 1 tablespoon yeast
4 cups flour


Mix first five ingredients together in a large bowl; let cool. In another bowl mix next three ingredients; let rise 5 minutes.

Add yeast mixture to oatmeal mixture then add 1 ½ cups flour and beat for 2 minutes. Then add remaining 2 ½ cups flour.

Blend with hands until well mixed. Let rise in pan for one hour. Shape raised dough into two bread loaves and place in greased pans. Let rise for one more hour. Bake in preheated 375-degree oven for 35 to 45 minutes.
