Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large bowl beat sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in oatmeal, flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon to form a soft dough. Stir in currents and nuts.
Form 1-inch balls and flatten slightly (wet hands with water to prevent dough from sticking to hands). Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool completely before storing.
