3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1-1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon


In large mixing bowl, mix cream of tartar, sugar, and shortening. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine all dry ingredients and stir into butter mixture.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball into mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Bake at 375 degrees on greased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes.

This was an excellent recipe

This was an excellent recipe for Snickerdoodles, used a 1/2 t vanilla since that was omitted in the ingredient list. My family says it is a keeper!!
