Vermont Maple Cookies
Bring these on country hikes or picnics. Crisp and delicious.
Ingredients
3/4 cup butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2-1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Walnut halves
Instructions
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt, and add to creamed mixture alternately with maple syrup. Blend well and fold in nuts. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with a walnut half. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400°F.
