How to Read Long-Range Weather Forecasts
Long-range predictions show weather trends in temperatures and precipitation. For example, will the winter be colder or warmer than average? Will there be more or less snow than what's typical for your area? Our famous predictions (traditionally 80% accurate) are made 18 months in advance, and meant to help you make more informed decisions for long-term planning.

Annual Weather Summary: November 2016 to October 2017
Winter will be much milder than normal, with snowfall mostly below normal and confined to the north. The coldest periods will be in late December, early to mid-January, from late January into early February, and in late February. Rainfall will be below normal in the north and near to below normal in the south, with snowfall most likely across the north in late December and late January.
April and May will be warmer and drier than normal.
Summer will be cooler than normal, despite hot periods in late May, mid-July, mid-August, and early September. Rainfall will be slightly above normal in the north and below normal in the south.
September and October will be warmer and rainier than normal.
