May weather prediction

The Editors's picture

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
Pleasanton, Kansas is in Region 10, the Heartland. For May 19, unfortunately we are predicting showers and cool temperatures. It is always a good idea to rent a tent, just in case. If it does rain, though, wedding lore says that it brings good luck!

Wedding

Our daughter is getting married on April 7th, 2018 outside in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. What are you thinking the weather might be for this weekend?

weather prediction for April

Medicine Lodge looks to be in Region 10, the Heartland. For that region, we are predicting the following:

On Friday, April 6, we are predicting sunny and cool. But unfortunately, we are predicting a rainy weekend, with warming temperatures. It’s always a good idea to rent a tent just in case! (If it does rain, that’s considered extra good luck!) No matter what the weather, we wish your daughter a beautiful and happy wedding day!

The community is almost exactly where regions 6, 9, and 10 collide, so we are taking a look at the forecast for all three regions for that day (and you should, too). Broadly speaking, it should be warm to hot, but there is the chance of thundershowers. (If you are planning an outdoor event, we always advise that you rent a tent.) Congratulations and best wishes!

train travel from Cleveland oh to Burlington Ia, roundtrip

Would love some advise. Only thinking about possible train trip for aboce cities in March 2018, best dates for best weather? Judy

Difficult to rely on this year

I find this year's forecast difficult to rely on. "Winter will be milder than normal, with above-normal precipitation and snowfall." "The snowiest periods will be in mid-November, early to mid- and late December, and early February." If this area gets this much snow fall, particularly during mid-November, then Winter cannot be mild. Secondly, in Omaha, we have had snow on the ground since Christmas, with the exception of 2 days - its the 2nd of February now, and its been unusually cold. I think the weather has pulled a trick on ya.

The weather forecasts are deviations from normal weather conditions. For more on that, see here: https://www.almanac.com/content/how-we-predict-weather

What’s more, “Mild” is relative: Mild in Florida is not the same temp as Mild in Michigan in January or February. (I know; you’re not in Michigan but the point is, it’s a relative term—and it relates back to the idea of norms or averages.

We do not predict or account for “snow on the ground,” but if that’s what you’ve got, then it must be cold…so maybe it’s not mild, even relatively speaking. But we have not process for checking every aspect of our prediction accuracy at any given time (like now).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts—and experience, though.

WEdding

We are planning a June 23, 2018 in St Louis, MO. What will the weather be like that day.
