What’s more, “Mild” is relative: Mild in Florida is not the same temp as Mild in Michigan in January or February. (I know; you’re not in Michigan but the point is, it’s a relative term—and it relates back to the idea of norms or averages.
We do not predict or account for “snow on the ground,” but if that’s what you’ve got, then it must be cold…so maybe it’s not mild, even relatively speaking. But we have not process for checking every aspect of our prediction accuracy at any given time (like now).
