why the high?

The Editors's picture

Believe it or not, the Arctic influences conditions in the mid-latitudes. Ocean temps also play a big roll. They both “move” (help to set the course for) the jet stream. And there are other influences at work. The common factor? We’re all in this together.

Geo-engineering?

What do you mean when you say that geo-engineering has dried us to a crisp? When? How? Do we even know how to do this yet?

Kinda frustrated

Your predictions have been off for the last year and 1/2. It has been blazing this summer, yet your predictions have been for cool or cooler weather. Why are you so off? Last winter your predictions were for a lot more snow than we saw, so what gives? Not sure I want to even buy your books anymore. They are not helpful.

kinda sorry

Seriously, we appreciate that you put your faith in our forecasts. We do, too. However, there are many “moving parts” (mitigating factors) that influence weather, including—playing a big roll—the warming Arctic. No doubt, you’ve heard about warming oceans, and the jet stream, and other things. They all contribute. Traditionally, our forecasts are 80% accurate, not 100% accurate but we appreciate that you and other want them to be. (We do, too.) Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Sunny and cool, huh?

Your forecast for aug 11 through 21st says 'sunny and cool?' So is 92 degrees F cool to you?! We haven't been below 80 during this time period, and before that about 10 days straight of upper 80's to low 90's. So is pawnxatawny Phil underground making these predictions for you or are you in Trump's camp that, 'global warming doesn't exist?"

is 92 cool?

Leaves are already changing

We noticed today, the maple leaves here in Spokane are changing at the top of the tree. Could fall/winter arrive early?
