Planting

You said exactly what I am feeling, to satisfy my needs to get my hands in some dirt, I have been preparing the ground to recieve the seeds, so with your remark it makes me feel better about that. I have purchased a mixture of manure and soil to work into the garden, I feel that by the first of the month it should except the seeds without being to strong, I am not sure of this so I do need advice on it. I'm planting cantaloupes, watermelon, kale, okra, peppers, green onions and mustard, I would love to have a good harvest. Please send me all the advice you have on this. Thank you. LaVerne Bass in Houston Texas zip code 77045.

MORE rain than Normal?

After getting 50 inches of rain in Texas last year and being flooded two years in a row in a place that has never flooded.... This is NOT what I really wanted to see... What is "normal"?

Rainfall for 2017-18

I live in central Oklahoma four miles from the Kansas border. We have had no measurable precipitation since September when we received.6” of rain. We are back in extreme drought. Was so hoping for a change in the forecast for snow or rain:(

drought southwest OK

no rain since sept 2017 very mild winter a few days in jan 2018 and feb 2018 another 3 days of cold then warmed up nicely elm trees starting to turn green with small leaves...we need rain had a little in feb 2018 but not enough to take us off the extreme drought radar... hoping march and april will supply magnum, ok with some rain I bought a mower I want to use it haha fingers crossed for rain M Butler

Where was our share of that 50 inches last year?

I don't know where April lives in Texas, but here in the Texas Hill Country we did not get anywhere near 50 inches of rain last year. We are in a terrible dry spell. Our winter grass is all gone and our hay is almost depleted. Even if we get 4-6 inches of rain right now it will take another month for the grass to revive so our cattle will have something to eat. In the meantime we are looking for hay for our cattle. The water tanks in the pasture that our cattle depend on to get water during the summer are nearly empty so we could have used some of that 50 inches of rain you got last year, April. Even the hurricanes didn't bring us any rain up here. If it were possible it would be nice if somehow the rain could have been shifted a little to the northwest where it was REALLY needed last year. We keep praying for rain so any prayers from the folks on the Texas coast to give us a little respite from this really DRY winter season would be appreciated.
