Making sweet potato pie is a piece of cake, er, pie! Here are simple step-by-step instructions on how to make this delicious sweet potato pie recipe.

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Get all of your ingredients out so not to have to search for items as you go. This will also ensure that you have everything you need.


All you need for the filling is one or two small sweet potatoes, eggs, sugar, ground ginger, salt, orange zest, and milk! It is your choice whether you want to peel and boil the sweet potatoes or bake them. Both ways work just fine.

Add all of your ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Here are your exact measurements:

1 cup cooked and mashed sweet potato (save any extra for eating on its own...yum!)

1-1/2 cups sugar

1-2/3 cups milk

3 eggs, beaten

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest



Mix all of the ingredients together and pour into a pie shell.


Bake for 1 hour or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once cooled, slice a piece, top with whipped cream (or not), and enjoy!
