When did Shep (loyal dog) die?

Shep (loyal dog) died on Monday, January 12, 1942.

Faithful dog Shep’s 5 ½ year vigil came to an end when he was killed by a train at Fort Benton, MT. Shep began his long wait when the coffin of his master was put on a train and taken away. From then on, Shep watched every train pull in and out and inspected the passengers. His loyalty brought him nationwide fame and he became the first dog to have his own secretary due to the huge amounts of mail he received.
