Wednesday, June 13, 2018: Raccoon completed climb of 25-story skyscraper in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The animal had begun the climb of the UBS Plaza building on its own about 20 hours before, pausing to rest or sleep on ledges. The racoon made it to the roof safely, where live traps with cat food inside had been placed by the city’s Department of Safety & Inspections. The raccoon eventually was caught and released into the wild by wildlife experts.

The animal was monitored by many concerned and fascinated people and its progress was shared on social media, including updates posted by Minnesota Public Radio on Twitter (#MPRraccoon). The animal’s plight soon became international news and was livestreamed by several broadcasts.
