ROBINS
Yes robins typically migrate (not hibernate) to the south by now. If a robin is hibernating, I would think he is most likely frozen dead.
robins
We recieved snow and it became bitterly cold here but i had seen a couple of robins... was surprised to see them.. dont they hybernate or something for winter? I mean when you see a Robin it is a sign of spring ..well at least to me they are : )
ROBINS
Yes, it is unusual for robins to be out at this time of year since they should be hibernating by now. Once a bear has settled for the winter, the robin enters the den and snuggles into the bear's fur to hibernate. The trick is to get in after the bear begins hibernating, and out before it wakes. That's where we get the phrase, the early bird gets to stay alive instead of being chewed on like a two dollar steak.
Michigan
Lower Michigan should be divided into 3 sections on this....Northern Side of West Branch Mi has had 9+ inches of snow since Halloween and it's snowing again today. It never melted either.
October 17 or October 3 for a wedding in southwest Michigan?
Hi! We are hoping for October 17 for our wedding in southwest Michigan, but open to October 3 as well. We don't mind the cold - just don't want rain! Thanks.
June 2020
Graduation will be upon us. We would like a backyard celebration so I was wondering what mid to late June 2020 might look like? (June 2019 we had a ton of rain.) Thanks!
Lower Lakes weather October
Well, we got what was forecast by OFA and the Chicago meterologists: early snow in October (on Hallowe'en, for Pete's sake!) and now it's melting away. Not my idea of fun, but - well, it's the area I'm in, and Mother Nature does as she will. Not particularly cold yet, just very chilly, and going out to put pots of frozen geraniums in the garden shed was not such a bad chore.
Geese haven't gone south yet. There's plenty of food, open water, and goose-friendly temperatures, so why would they leave?
Hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving!
Lower Lakes weather October-November
11-8-2019 - Updating my first comment: after Hallowe'en, after the first snow melted (I got photos of it, too), then we got a nice, mild interval and then WHAMMO! We got the deep freeze and more snow as predicted by OFA's short range forecast. Woke to 15F outside this morning. And there is supposed to be more to come.
I'm resigned to it.
Geese...fly south?!? Hahaha
Silly silly, those are Canadian geese, they're already South. Be prepared to see them all winter long!! They never leave, they wouldn't stand a chance to not poop everywhere!!! Lol. Have a good turkey day as well!!

How accurate is the long term forecast for 2020 with lower than normal precipitation? Planning a 10/31/20 wedding. Should it be held inside or out?
