How to Read Long-Range Weather Forecasts
Long-range predictions show weather trends in temperatures and precipitation. For example, will the winter be colder or warmer than average? Will there be more or less snow than what's typical for your area? Our famous predictions (traditionally 80% accurate) are made 18 months in advance, and meant to help you make more informed decisions for long-term planning.

Winter will be rainier than normal. Temperatures will be below normal in the north and above normal in the south, with the coldest periods in early and mid- to late December and mid- to late January. Snowfall will be above normal in the north and below normal in the south, with the snowiest periods in early December and mid-January.
April and May will be slightly warmer and drier than normal.
Summer will be warmer and rainier than normal, with the hottest temperatures in late June and early to mid-July, from late July into early August, and in mid- to late August.
September and October will be cooler than normal, with near-normal rainfall.
