Naomi Parker Fraley (inspiration for the 1943 “We Can Do It!” Westinghouse poster) died on Saturday, January 20, 2018.

The woman depicted on artist J. Howard Miller’s famous “We Can Do It!” 1943 poster made for Westinghouse was commonly referred to as “Rosie the Riveter” in later years. Several women have been the inspiration for different depictions of the icon Rosie (such as Mary Doyle Keefe for Norman Rockwell’s “Rosie the Riveter”), but for this poster, Fraley is now believed to have been the one. Geraldine Hoff Doyle was previously believed to have been the inspiration.
