Question
What did C-rations contain?
Answer
The first C-rations, developed by the U.S. Army in 1938, contained cans of biscuits and meat-and-vegetable combos. Due to complaints, the ration was constantly being improved for taste, variety, and packaging. In 1983, it was replaced by the MRE, or “Meal, Ready to Eat,” which offers entrees such as chicken tetrazzini in a pouch.
