When crossing a multilane bridge that has strong crosswinds, what is the safest lane in which to drive?
Answer
There is no one correct answer. Getting safely across a bridge depends on many variables, such as the strength, direction, and stability of the wind; the height of the bridge; obstructions that might disrupt the flow of the wind; the amount of traffic; and your own speed. But here are two things you might want to keep in mind: Driving as close as possible to the center of the roadway will give you the greatest time to react in case something bad happens, and driving slowly in strong winds is always a safe bet.
