Gita M. Smith is a writer, first and foremost. She reported for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as its Alabama bureau person and also reported in the newsroom for 12 years. She writes short fiction and has won several awards, including “Best Short Story on the Web” in 2013. She was nominated for the 2018 Pushcart Prize. At Buckmasters, Inc., she was the managing editor of a new children’s outdoors magazine.
