What’s Happening in April
This is the last month where we have all major planets in direct motion for the year. Until the 27th, when planet Pluto goes retrograde, all are moving forward. Things should be going mostly as planned and again, once we pass the new Moon on the 11th, this is a good time to initiate for success. Especially nice is the 15th with a plethora of aspects happening on the 17th, most of them good (primarily before 11 AM EDT). The 23rd is another very good day to begin something that you would like to see grow.
In many parts of the country, gardening season has begun.
- Especially fertile days to plant below-ground crops are the 8th & 9th.
- Above-ground crops would do best if sown on the 18th or 19th.
In the north, it’s time to get in the peas, lettuce, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, Swiss chard, radishes and beets. Check with your local nurseries for advice on particulars in your region. I know that here, in New England, the carrot maggot lays its eggs on May 21st. If you wait until after this date, you won’t have to worry about them. If you can’t wait, cover them with something that the bugs can’t get through.
