Can you please advise me on keeping geraniums over the winter to be used the following May? We live in Toronto, and our home is not cool.
Geraniums can be carried through northern winters. Choose your nicest plants, cut them back severely, and pot them up. They’ll add color to your home during the gray winter months. If you don’t wish to pot them all, you can dig them up and store them (without soil) in a cool, humid place, such as a root cellar or an unheated basement with a dirt floor. In the spring, prune them back to the main stem and replant them.
