Pumpkins do well in low humidity and average soil, but they don’t like wet or poorly aerated soil. They need a lot of space, full sun, and moderate fertilization. There’s some work involved in thinning pumpkins and in keeping ahead of weeds and pests, but generally they’re easy to grow.
