What are the most often played songs or tunes?
We can find the “most recorded” songs and the “most performed” songs. In the United States since 1950, the top three most recorded songs have been “St. Louis Blues,” “Tea for Two,” and “Body and Soul.” The most often performed songs (owned by Broadcast Music) have been “Yesterday,” “Never My Love,” and “By the Time I Get to Phoenix.” All-time world-record sales of single hit recordings are held by “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby, “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley and the Comets, and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” by the Beatles. We couldn’t find proof, but we think the most often played or sung tune is “Happy Birthday.”
