What is the celebration of Ramadan about?

Ramadan is a Muslim tradition consisting of fasting from dawn until sunset every day for one month. It is held in honor of and for reflection on the month when the first verses of the holy Qur’an (Scripture of Islam) were shown to the Prophet Mohammad.
