Last year I planted 2 concord seeded vines but now have decided I would rather have a seedless variety and I want to replant this spring. I live in West Virginia what would be a good variety for a table grape for eating, jams, and maybe juice? Thanks for your time.
Hi Ben,
I grow Somerset seedless here in Iowa. It's hardiness is zone 4-8, so should grow well in WV. It's a vigorous variety & flavor is strawberry-like.
The flavor of grapes that are homegrown are incredibly better than the supermarket varieties!
Best of luck & HAVE FUN!

Seedling help. I started some red globe grapes from seed in January here in zone 5. They are about 6" and several leaves now. When should I move them out? This year, next? Before or after last frost? Any information would help. Thank you.
I hope you could help me out to get my 2 grape vines to flower after planting them for 2 years.

We inherited a concord grape vine that is probably close to 100 years old- used to make wine by my great-grandmother. I have a dehydrator, and my son loves dehydrated fruit. We are going to cut it back and restart the growing process. Will it take about three years for the vine to yield fruit again? Also, can we dehydrate the grapes to make raisins? It seems like raisins would be extremely difficult with the all the seeds. Is there anything else this type of grape is good for (besides wine)?
If the vine is healthy you can prune it back to 5 to 6 feet while it is still dormant. It will have lots of new growth this summer but probably no grapes. If you like more plants you can start new grape plants from the cuttings. You need to prune again later to shape your vines. Concord grapes are great for juice, jams and purees (that you can freeze). To dry the grapes cut them in half and remove the seeds first.
i just got 6 concord grades in a small contaner at lowes i have them in my house by the window till i can plant them in a couple weeks do i water them a lot or do anything to them till i plant them
