The absolute best way to deal with the change back to Standard Time is to LEAVE THE CLOCK ALONE going forward. DST never worked as intended and I'm to injured to keep climbing up chairs in the house to change the clocks. Although last time around I did leave some clocks in Standard Time. End this madness and keep it on Standard Time! It was fine before they started messing with it.
I teach English remotely to kids in China, and they have enough sense not to deal with this switching back-and-forth. They are 12 hours ahead of us for at least half the year, so I start teaching at 5:30 in the morning. Thankfully, I’m a morning person so this is manageable. Next week, though, I have to start teaching at 4:30 which is brutal for a while. Every year, about the beginning of October, I set my alarm back five minutes, every four or five days or so during the week, roughly about once a week. I’ve spent the last handful of days waking up at the time I’ll have to wake up November 2, but it’s still such a disruption to life.
The article (updated 10/16/26) states "Earlier this year, the Senate passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, perhaps as early as next year." I believe this should be updated for 2026. The following is per a Google search of The Sunshine Protection Act that I just did:
"The U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES passed the bill by a 308–117 vote on July 14, 2026. The bill was received in the Senate and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, but THE SENATE ADJOURNED WITHOUT HOLDING A VOTE. Lawmakers are not expected to return to Washington until after the midterm elections, leaving a very narrow window before the end of the 119th Congress."
This is a flip-flop of what happened in 2025, so we're back to square one.
THIS IS SO BRAINDEAD, AND UNHEALTHY. Our bodies are on their own time and we should not be forced to changed to an artificial version... IF WE ARE NOT CHANGING , IT SHOULD BE NATURAL TO STANDARD.
THIS SHOULD BE VOTED ON BY ALL CITIZENS...NOT HAVE THE SELFISH HALFWITS DECIDE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER BEER BEFORE ITS DARK. REALLY URKS ME THAY THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS!
I agree Lorraine, leave the clocks alone and stay in Standard Time. I don't need the sun up at 9pm when it's 112° outside.
nah just get a life instead of hating on small websites

AMEN!!! Leave it at standard time.
It is so hard for students and teachers to keep switching back and forth. Plus DST had students waiting in the dark to get on a bus to go to school. Standard time really is the best for them.
Bottom line, leaving our time one or the other would be better for our bodies. But please consider all folks.
