Aloe vera is known as the “true aloe,” and it’s the aloe you want if you plan to use aloe gel to treat sunburns and more. However, the aloe genus is a big one with over 500 species of distinct aloe plants. If you love aloe vera, here are a few more attractive and easy-care aloe varieties you may want to try!
- Aloe variegata Tiger or Partridge-Breasted Aloe: This compact aloe is characterized by short, smooth leaves that feature uneven white striping.
- A. aristata Lace Aloe: This small aloe variety is noted for its white-spotted leaves with finely saw-toothed margins.
- A. glauca Blue Aloe: A larger aloe species, the blue aloe lives up to its name thanks to its gorgeous silvery-blue leaves.

It sounds like your plant is thirsty. Leaves should be plump and firm to the touch, but if they don't have enough water, they will get soft and wilted. This can also happen if the plant is watered too much, but given that you say your soil is dry, it's more likely that the plant needs more water rather than less. Give yours a good watering and see if its condition improves.
Don't worry! The main thing to be careful about is watering—don't overwater your plant and let the soil dry out between waterings, assuming the pup is already in soil. Keep it out of direct sunlight (bright, indirect light is best) and away from extreme temperature areas (such as a cold window or above a heating vent).
