- ‘Picotee’ has pretty white flowers with a crimson border around the edge of the flower (some are also flecked in crimson).
- ‘Sea Shells’ have white, pink, or red tube-shaped petals.
- ‘Purity’ is a beautiful, classic, white flower that looks spectacular growing against the dark-maroon ‘Niger’ hollyhock or purple basil.
- ‘Cosmos Sonata Series’ looks especially good with Bells of Ireland.
- ‘Chocolate’ cosmos adds distinction to a white campanula, dianthus, or ‘Moonshine’ achillea.
- Tall cosmos are best for the back of the garden and filling in mixed borders among perennials such as foxgloves, phlox, delphiniums, and daisies, as well as annuals such as poppies, cleome, and asters.
- Dwarf cosmos, such as the Ladybird series, are great companions for zinnias, Johnny jump-ups, pansies, alchemilla, or dark-blue morning glory.

Let the cosmos flowers bloom all along the roads and railways!
I've had Cosmos in the yard for a few years. I allow them to self seed but last year not many came back. I have more seeds but am not sure of the best time to sow. I live in zone 9/10 in Southern California where we don't have frosts. When should I sow?
Hi all, am new to gardening but I am keen on having my own flower garden. I have bought a pack of cosmos seeds and plan to grow them in pots. How deep should each pot be? How many seedlings can I plant in one pot? Am planning to germinate the seeds in a seed tray.
Please advise.
I've grown cosmos for many years. It is one of my favorite flowers. Sometimes I have a white slimy substance on the plants. What is this and will it hurt the plant?
Hello Bettye, I've been growing Cosmos my whole life. The white slimy substance is a bugs cacoon. If u look at it very close u can see the bug inside of the slime. Take ur hose and a rag and get it off. The bug will eat ur plant and infect the others. Hope that helped u.
Love the look of this plant. I have bought some seeds but it is already the end of AUG and I am wondering when is the best time of year to plant these seeds...? How do I store the seeds until planting time?
