Specialty varieties of peace lilies are not very easy to come by in most garden centers, though they have been growing in popularity. You may have more success ordering them from an online source.
- Spathiphyllum wallisii is a smaller peace lily, reaching only 12 inches tall.
- ‘Petite’ is smaller still, at approximately 8–10 inches.
- ‘Sensation’ is the largest variety available, capable of growing up to 4–6 feet in height and width.
- ‘Domino’, is a medium-sized variety with attractively variegated leaves.
- ‘Mojo Lime’, which has lime-green foliage, is another medium-sized peace lily.

I have a nice healthy mum for my patio but it needs to be transferred to a permanent pot because it is only in a plastic pot from the store. Will it spread out to fill a pot with a larger surface area?
I just bought my plant. Attached to one of the stems is a 2 inch cylindrical brown thing that has tiny bumps all over it. What is it? Should I leave it there?
Thanks, Gloria
My daughter moved and put her lily on my front porch. We live in Phoenix, so you can imagine what happened to this poor plantafter our neucular sunshown on her all afternoon. The edges of most leaves are crisp and black from sunburn and now, after several weeks in the house the new flowers have brown edges, turning all brown and dying. The leaves are not dying, nor are they drooping. Should I prune the damaged leaves and flowers, or leave her alone until she seems no longer so stressed. She seems stable except for the blooms. She sits in a semi-dark room with shaded west sunlight.
Thank You. K.
Thank you so very much. I was uncertain whether to cut the leaves at their base, or as you suggested, trim them according to shape. I will let you know of "Lily's" progress after her surgery in her new home.
How do you prune a peace lily plant, the leaves and flower?

Your pot needs a drainage hole. Drill it yourself if needed. Choose a pot just two inches wider in diameter than original pot. Use a peat-based potting mix that contains perlite (or sand) and composted bark (to replicate their native forested home). The ingredients will be listed on the mix.
