WOW i am surprised that you even have factories where you live. unless of course you are talking about when you were working years ago. sorry its a sore topic for me because as everyone knows almost all of our factory jobs have gone to china. america is not what it use to be that is for sure
It's STANDARD Time, NOT Daylight Saving Time, that SHOULD be made permanent!
I am fearful of leaving a comment due to believing I may be clustered with all previous commenters. There is absolutely NOTHING in nature that correlates with 'time' so calling one, or the other, 'natural' is ludicrous! Time was conceived of, and instituted by, man, not nature. Time allows for members of a society to function with one another and nothing else. Time provides a convenience! For instance, presume that without time, Doctor's appointments would be established by how many patients could be seen between dawn and sunset. That number of patients would be told to arrive on a certain day at dawn, and would be seen in their order of arrival. At sunset those remaining unseen would be told to leave and return on another occasion. The earlier your arrival, the increased likelihood of being seen on that day. My suggestion is to set clocks ahead monthly, forever forward! Of course then we would have to argue about whether a month is 28 days, 30 days or 31 days. And do not forget the Super Bowl. What do we do when that is played at 3 am? Personally, I would like to meet the person who's comment includes moving a foot of his blanket from the bottom to the top as being some type correlation to changing time aspects. Does anyone have the name of the institution at which he is a current resident?
Like most everyone I know, I want Standard Time all year. Daylight Savings Time is unnatural and should be ended once and for all.
I prefer Standard Time. I’ve always hated changing the clocks back and forth, society can live just fine without messing with the time twice a year. Hopefully government sets a law about this one way or the other soon….it’ll be one less irritating thing to deal with !
I get very upset at the idea of being forced to go against nature's internal clock by a vote to stay on DST just for an hour of daylight. This is a HEALTH ISSUE and should never be voted on or ordered by government. People should read an in-depth article about the circadian rhythm; standard time is in line with our body's natural clock with the universe, and DST is just ignorant, especially if it is permanent. It may have served its purpose in wartime, but we need to go back to nature no matter what may be uncomfortable for some. People need to get informed about our body's circadian rhythm and stop babbling about something they apparently know little about. Everyone's schedule and needs are different so either way some people will be inconvenienced so we may as well keep the natural state. This is not a voting or preference issue. WE NEED TO STAY ON STANDARD TIME PERMANENTLY, AS NATURE INTENDED.
Nature didn't 'intend' time! Time and schedules are human constructs, we invented them (in order for our commerce, business and activities to run). Nature's got nothing to do with it!
The sun rises and sets when it does. What we call that 'time' and how we schedule ourselves around it is our own doing!
Also --- people have different natural rhythms. Some people are night owls, some prefer morning hours. We all get energy at different times. So what works for one, might not work for everyone else!
It's all an abritrary construct. We could start our working days at 4 am if we wanted. We could have 'late night' tv shows at 8pm. We could collectively eat 'dinner' at 3 in the afternoon ----
I set my own hours and don't get up early. I'm still affected by 'dst' and 'st' because of business opening hours.
It's all what we agree upon collectively.
Elementary school kids in my area get home at 4 30 in the afternoon. Sunset is 20 minutes later on 'standard time' ---- that's sad. Kids around here like to play outside, but in the winter months, they don't really get the chance. We could start the school day an hour earlier in the winter. We could change all business hours to start an hour earier in winter, run from 7 - 4 in winter as opposed to 8 - 5.
It's all made-up by us.
None of it is natural ---- unless you live off-grid and aren't affected by communal schedules!
I guess 100s of years ago people just agreed to meet at vague times, like "high noon" or "sunrise" --- since there was no other way to know what "time" it was!
I agree 100%! DST should be eliminated and never resumed! It damages us for no actual benefit. Please Discontinue Daylight Savings Time and let humanity live more safely!
Permanent Daylight Savings Time would give us more usable light. Most people would not be coming home in the dark during the winter.
Exactly! My guess is that most who prefer Standard Time don't live in places where the sun sets at 4:30 pm in November and December.
