Everyone who has half a brain wants to put an end to it but there's no cash kickback incentive for our corrupt politicians to change the rule so it will never happen! Rediculous but true! Maybe I should start a "Go Fund Me" account for the purpose of paying off our congress to end daylight savings time!!!
Most US citizens like me prefer DST year round. When I leave work in the fall/winter it's almost dark. I feel like I need to go to bed when I get home. The time change is not good for one's sleep pattern. If it ain't broke don't fix it!?!?
I would prefer to leave it standard time, there are very valid reasons for following the nature's path. But just keeping the same time all year would be better than screwing everyone up twice a year. So pick one snd leave it.
This was tried in CT in the early 1970s and turned out to be an abject failure. Absent the clocks being set back an hour, commuters were driving to work in the dark and, worse yet, kids were going to school--and waiting for the bus--in the dark! In terms of actual time, sunrise was around 8:15 AM under DST instead of 7:15 (if clocks had been turned back). Naturally, parents became unglued due to safety concerns. Upon realizing (duh!) that the home-to-work commute time coincided with home-to-school travel WHILE IN DARKNESS, parents screamed quite loudly, and the powers-that-be vowed never to do it again. Of course, no one with a 1st grader nowadays was old enough (or alive) to remember that. Note also: as an example, most of the state of Indiana is in the Eastern Time Zone, with sunrise being approximately 50 minutes after it rises in CT. That means sunrise would occur around 9:00 AM in many places in the middle of the winter. Is that desired? Much of the legislation to maintain DST is called something like "Sunlight Protection Act," which is dumb because the length of sunlight in any given day has nothing to do with where the clocks are set.
I live in NJ and the sun rises way too early, (about 5:15am), and sets way to early, (about 4:15pm). Anyone that needs sun that early in the morning needs to get a real life!
Set it to EST and leave it alone. This is getting old and it messes up the world clock and the standard time zones. It is 6 PM in Canada and Cuba but 7 PM in the US. Ridiculous. Time to set it as originally intended (EST etc) and leave it alone.
Your exactly right, thank you.
I think they should just pick one and stay with it.
It doesn't matter to me one way or another. I would just rather they pick one and leave it alone. The Earth rotates around until it's back and forth and does all that on its own. Isn't that enough and natural
The US Congress needs to get off their butts before Nov 4! The reduction in accidents, physical problems, mental issues, and crime should seal the deal.
The old Standard Time forces us to light things up artificially and become "couch potatos" when we should be active.
EVERYBODY I know and talk to across the country striongly supports PERMANENT DST.
