What does distracted driving or crime have to do with the DST/ST debate? I much prefer DST, I really like that extra hour of daylight, especially during the spring through fall and even winter when driving home at the end of the day. I'd much rather drive while it's light out than after dark. So why does that make me evil, you don't know me or the fact that I'm a retired Army officer so I'll ask again, why does that make me evil? Inquiring minds want to know.
Standard is best.. The extra hour of sunlight messes up sleep pattern. Besides WHO wants to pay for extra electric cost at the hottest time of the day. When standard is permanent there is more sun in the morning when it's COOLEST... Day light savings adds to extra money that AC has to run in the sun at 9pm. That's horrible.
God didn’t create standard time or daylight time. Sun rises, sun sets. Animals don have clocks and watches. Just humans set clocks. Standard time is just as arbitrary as DST. If our lives were regulated by nature, then we’d wake up with the Sun and go to sleep when it sets. But my job has no connection to nature and the rhythms of nature. Wall Street determines the rhythms of our lives.
Rick Hess: If you had read the article you would know what crime and accidents had to do with this.
Well, you are wrong there. You see ST is where high noon has no shadow. So you don't need a watch. Animals have an internal clock and "some" people do. They seem to be the ones that want ST.
For years they have been doing this , they want to say or blame this on this or that. DST sucks it alway has the people that want this is younger generation not people in there 30’s on to me it needs to stay on standard time. Year round all these studies you here about the dst are just that studies. A lot of that is BS. I guess these people don’t have nothing else to do but do surveys. What a waste of time sick of here these younger generations mown an grown suck it up get a job an you want have to worry about the DST an maybe mom an dad want have to pay your way till your 30 years old.
I'm going on 71 and I much prefer DST, so it's probably best not to make generalizations about what age group likes what best. Why are you picking on the under 30 crowd? The fact that they see things differently than you or I shouldn't give you license to harang them and make generalizations about them. You would also make your points better if you used correct spelling and better punctuation to make your thoughts flow better.
Amen!
I prefer DST as an outdoor enthusiast and a landscaper. During DST, when you get up, you have your whole day of sunshine before you and can make the most of it; the sun is rising and illumination increases as you start your day. With Standard time, you've already lost daylight by the time you get out and get on with your day. Btw. I'm out the door by 7am daily. Having time to go for an afternoon run or bike ride just makes sense and also gives you the opportunity to see a great sunrise and sunset versus losing it during your morning or afternoon commute! Keep it DST!
Playing with the clock doesn't give anyone one second of extra time. Not one second of extra sunshine, nor one second of extra darkness.
I get up with the sun, and go to bed when I'm tired.
