No, Linda, it is not better for farmers. Did you read the article?
I disagree with having DST ! My sleep issues seem more pronounced and I feel thrown off the whole time. Makes no sense to me...sure, you may have more daylight...but when the clock says 8 pm, daylight or not you still have to call it a day so you can go to bed in order to sleep and get up for work the next day ! Leave the time alone ! Follow natural order. Humans always mess things up !
It should not be changed. I don't care if it is DST or standard. Just keep it the same all year. What about all the poor people in nursing homes? They are fed and woken up at according to what the clock says. Doesn't matter whether they are hungry or not; tired/not tired etc. Changing times is ridiculous.
Like somebody else already said, it's summer that gives longer hours not DST. You're not increasing the amount of daylight by changing the clocks, you're just shifting whether you have more light at the beginning of the day or the end. But we don't all work 9 to 5 jobs, we don't all wake up the same time, and there is always a time of year when children go to school in the dark (past elementary school anyways). This is the most ridiculous custom we continue to observe.
P.S. - Are we really worried about children not experiencing darkness until they're adults? That's a bit much.
I'm in California, but have lived all over the U.S. and in Europe. I'm for doing away with DST, for me it screws up my sleep pattern, takes me months to adjust . Also I've noticed over the years how it seems that effects others (example is co-workers) right after the time change and not for the good.
From NY. And I DONT WANT TO BE CHANGED TO ATLANTIC STANDARD time thank you!!! Shoot I hate day light standard time. Why make new york any different then Any other state if your going to remove DST? who gives a rats tail where it is in the usa. Keep in eastern standard time or central standard time . Easy. Remove day light standard time. Governor hocul already can't hold her job as it is. So just make it easy. Use flash cards. 🤣. So she won't get confused and she will actually make a good decision one time before November.
I live in Bedford, Indiana and I am totally against switching our clocks to Eastern Daylight Time in the Spring of the year. Before 2006, most of the Indiana counties stayed on Eastern Standard Time all year round! I think that most of us in this part of Indiana would love to see us STAY ON EASTERN STANDARD ALL YEAR ROUND. Indiana originally started out in the Central Time Zone so actually by observing Eastern Daylight Time it puts us 2 HOURS AHEAD OF WHAT THE ACTUAL TIME IS! I want to see most of Indiana on Central in the winter months or observe EASTERN STANDARD ALL YEAR!!! INDIANA DOES NOT BELONG ON EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME THAT IS FOR SURE!!! WE NEED TO SEE A CHANGE RIGHT HERE ASAP!!!
Keep Daylight Savings Time! Oh please! Here in the Pacific Northwest the sun setting at 4pm in the winter is awful!! Darkness in the morning doesn't matter, the kids are in the dark either way.
I live farther north than you and your comment about the sun setting at 4:00 p.m. is erroneous unless you happen to be directly on the east side of a tall mountain. Our time does not change here and it sets around 5:00 p.m.
You seem to misunderstand. DST is active in the summer, not the winter, and the days are short in the winter no matter what. We should change what times we are active, not change the time itself. Scheduling that has DST in mind, if anything, makes your winter plight worse! Abolish daylight savings time!
