It doesn’t make a lot of sense to change the clock back and forth. Leave it on one are the other from now on.
Time is a man made construct and changing it only cause's massive disturbances in our life patterns (sleep, work, Social activities).
My animals do not like changing the clock forward or backward in any since. At 0600 my dog is ready to go out side, its now 0500 due to the time change and I want to sleep - he doesn't understand why its an hour later, he opens the bedroom door and try's to open the locked door to go out. Waking us at what is now 0500!
We dont use an alarm clock as he is better at time then we are. My chickens are waiting for me to throw out some scratch and its now later and go crazy when I show up at what is now a change in time.
My kids hated the time change as it took them 2-3 weeks to change there sleeping habits! In retrospect they acted up during this time and were hard to handle and wake-up due to the change.
As above the statement that farmers changed the time they milk cows or feed there animals was only for the ones that were not original farmers or have adopted this stupid practice --- The Amish in my area get up at sun rise and work to sun set -- they follow time as they have to work with (shee)people that follow this time concept.
We are trying to change history and omit reality yet we cant fix a stupid outdated practice! To keep everyone happy we should take a year of DST and a year of ST - take a vote and stick with one time!!
The rational is that DST was created to save gas during WWI, not sure how that would affect today's gas prices or usage. Hard sell...
How nice it would/can be to not have to remember changing of the clocks.
I agree that we should go to year round DST. The economic impact would be significant due to the increase in activity with more daylight in the evening hours. It’s way to dark here in the Pacific Northwest during fall and winter months and falling back in the fall makes it even worse.
This needs to go away.I am,as well as others, are tired of having to adjust sleep patterns twice a year… I have gotten into an accident due to this from sleep disturbances. It doesn’t make any sense to have this anymore as it does not save energy and actually messes farmers up by having to change their schedule twice a year…. Please get rid of this
I suffer from headache like many individuals in America. If there is one thing I know for sure is we need structure in our lives and changing the time affects your sleep cycle and ultimitely you get severe headaches. Honestly, I don't really care if we leave it permanently on ST or DST as long as we stop changing the clock. It is a really a nuisance.
I read many comments on here about maintaining the "natural" standard time, but there is nothing natural about it. It's just as much of a construct as DST but the name fooled you successfully. Clocks have only existed and been commonplace for a few hundred years. The standardized 24 hour day is a modern construct. DST and ST are equally unnatural constructs, just offset by an hour. There are valid reasons to prefer DST or ST, but nature has nothing to do with either. Come to your own conclusions, but understand nature has nothing to do with the 24 hour day or time zones.
We should kill two birds with one stone. Get rid of the clock change and the times zones. All of the US on one time, GMT. Instead of syncing hours and changing times, the whole country can be on one time and people, places, businesses, etc, can change their hours to fit their location or needs. Instead of the "work day" starting at 9 in 4 different time zones, each time zone starts the work day at at different hour. 14 GMT on the east coast, 15 GMT in the central time region, etc. This would solve so much confusion all around.
I absolutely agree with that.
I'm convinced it causes more accidents. I saw two car accidents the first night!
Having more daylight after school/work is way more useful.
