How to Properly Display the American Flag

Hi, Gary: Thanks for returning, and sorry for the mixup. It is perfectly OK to do this. Since they are not actually flyable flags, these are "flag art" and protected/enabled by Freedom of Speech. Thanks again, and for being so patriotic to ask—not to mention for undertaking this great project!
Hi, Kelly: This sounds like a lovely idea, and it would be perfectly appropriate to present Old Glory as a gift. She should be folded up in the traditional triangular fashion; search online for how to do this if you need to. Then, she should be wrapped or placed in plastic somehow (a large food storage bag, for example) to protect her when she is set down during the event, while traveling, etc. Finally, it would be perfectly fine to put a ribbon and bow on the plastic, or to wrap the plastic in wrapping paper with bow, as you would with a normal gift. When it is awarded, there are no special considerations that need to be followed regarding saluting or anything else of that nature (just make sure that they don't put it on the floor). Thanks for being so patriotic to ask!
Hi, Mark: The ideal way would be to remove and fold, although if they were wrapped and shrink-wrapped, we would never tell. If they do remain on the poles, the poles would need to remain upright. In matters like this, the most important thing is to treat Old Glory with respect, and you seem to have that well covered. If she can survive with honor having been dragged through the mud of countless battles, she no doubt will emerge unscathed from the move of your obviously caring company. Thanks for being so patriotic to ask!

Hi, Randy: Sounds like a great idea! Regardless of whether you "hang" the flags horizontally or vertically and whether you have them side-by-side in a row or "stacked" one on top of another, Old Glory would always be at the left or on the top as you looked at them. Then, the other two could be in either order, although it might be more intuitive to have Canada next to Old Glory simply because C comes before M(exico) and also because most people "see" Canada before Mexico because they look at things from top to bottom (north to south, geographically). And to be specific, when they are in a row horizontally, they can all be the same height. Thanks for asking!
