Hello, I love your polite responses. Can you please tell me what the flagpole height should be for a 3x5 flag? Ours was on a 6ft pole, but we took it down because I read somewhere that the pole should be at least 15ft.
Do American flags of prior versions, say 1850, have rules for displaying them?
I have a question that I hope you are able to help me with. Is it right for the police to put that blue line through our Flag and call it their own? Your input is definitely appreciated.
Thank you and be safe and let’s keep our Flag the way it was meant to be, for all those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms!!!
Much respect,
Robert Stevens
Hi, Robert: Once Old Glory is altered in any way, she is no longer Old Glory and is instead "flag art," which is protected under Freedom of Speech. It would not be proper to pledge allegiance to a blue line flag, for example. Whether this is right or wrong is up to the beholder. Thanks for being so patriotic to ask!
Is it appropriate to hang a flag outside on a wall?
If so, are there any caveats or requirements (other than Union towards viewer's left and flag to right of other flags)?
Ohio SU band consistently uses the American flag as a partisan symbol whenever they play the school song. Then the flag is wrapped up and stored on the stadium floor until the next playing of the school song. Should a flag ever be a symbol of partisanship and what of storing in on the concrete between songs?

Hi, JoAnn: Yes, a black streamer (not with bow, although we see nothing wrong with that) at the top of the staff would have been the perfectly proper way to do this. Thanks for being so patriotic to ask!
