How to Properly Display the American Flag

Hi, Michael: Actually, it is improper to wrap Old Glory on the roof of a vehicle, so there is no real correct answer to this. That being said, if she were being flown on a little staff at the front of the vehicle, it would be on the passenger side, so if flag etiquette is still to be transgressed, we would suggest the blue "union" above the front passenger seat. Thanks for asking!
Hi, Dennis: The answers to these questions pretty much depend on the circumstances. In the first case, if the song were some sort of patriotic tune, like "Stars and Stripes Forever," you could well imagine how someone might take the opportunity to get a little exuberant; if it were something less related to a patriotic theme, well, perhaps not so appropriate. Similarly, unfurling an Old Glory on a staff is not necessarily wrong ("Look, class: There are 50 stars"), although it is also not common practice. In any event, and quite ironically, Old Glory represents the very Freedom of Speech that allows anyone to do anything they want with her. Thanks for caring so much to ask!
