I work for a federal agency and currently out visitor center is closed due to covid-19. We do not light our flag so it is put up and taken down daily. I know it should be flown everyday but my question is because our facility is closed to the public and minimal staff are around, is it acceptable to not fly the flag until the public are allowed back on the property?
Hi, Alex: Obviously, you should seek guidance from your supervisor, lest you put your job in jeopardy. You are technically correct: If Old Glory cannot be raised and lowered properly, she should not be raised to begin with. But you would be perfectly justified to not raise her at all, to raise and lower her as convenient for the staff, or even to raise her and leave her up all night. Sometimes we all have to adapt, just as our folks always have to do in battle. We always try to go with the idea that Old Glory flying wrong is better than Old Glory not flying at all. Thanks for being so patriotic to ask!
We put up a new flag at the cemetery and the governor of Connecticut requires all flags to fly at half staff. The Vice President of the polish legion of American veterans claims cemetery’s are not required to lower the flag. I lowered it and will put it back up tomorrow if true.
My neighbor just put up a flag pole with the American Flag on top, a United States Navy flag on the bottom, and a "Trump 2020, Keep America Great" flag in the middle. Tell me what's wrong - or right - about this, please.
My boss wanted me to hand a flag on the side of a small building at the entrance, I thought I should check for the ruling but didn't see it called out. is it ok to secure the top edge of the flag to the wall using large round washers and a screw? This would put a penetration in the striped corner of the flag is why i'm concerned.
I was and have remained deeply disturbed at the President disturbing and hugging the American flag to him like a doll. I have a deep pride in the flag, having been in a military family, and my feelings probably aren't warranted, how do you feel about this issue?

Hi, Sandy: When side-by-side US and UK flags are viewed from the street, Old Glory would be on the left. Thanks for asking!
