How to Properly Display the American Flag
More Like This
The question comes up often of how much can the resemblance to the US Flag be when making a Quilt of Valor or a Patriotic quilt. What are the National rules on this subject, thank you!
Is fringe on a flag allowed?
My personal feeling is tacky in a home or that sort of display, but in every court room I have been in the flag has gold fringe on it.
Is it permissible under flag ettiquet to remove the stars from a retired flag to be issued to individuals. No disrespect was meant by it. But it seems to be improper.
Thanks
no flag is to be casually discarded, but should be disposed of with respect.
I am with you here I think it improper.
Gary
I am responsible for lowering the flag each day at my school, and I generally do it alone. I was taught to bring the flag down (state flag first, then Old Glory), ensure it doesn't touch the ground; catch and roll the flag in my arms, then take it inside to fold properly on a countertop (again, alone, and so it does not touch the ground) for storage each night. I was recently criticized for rolling the flag upon lowering it. Should I do something different?
