How to Properly Display the American Flag

How do I honor John McCain?
My flag is mounted on my garage, so I cannot lower to half staff
"When displayed from a staff in a church or auditorium, the flag should occupy the position of honor and be placed at the speaker’s right as he faces the audience."
I am confused about this "rule". Please clarify the difference when (1) the speaker is on a stage with the flag displayed on a staff behind him and when (2) the room has no stage and the flag is displayed on a staff either in front, beside or behind the speaker.
Ok so just been curious for many years. When lowering the flag to half . What part of the flag should be at half. The lower red and white stripes or the union.
May I mount the American flag under a maple tree where it will be displayed at the edge of the property near the road?
Hi, Sandra: Flying it under a tree isn't a problem, but getting it oriented properly sometimes is. If you hang it perpendicular to the road with the blue field closest to the road, then one side of it is going to be hung backwards (flying from right to left). Same thing if hung the opposite. The best thing to do is to see if you can somehow hang it parallel to the road, with the blue field to the upper left. One other consideration is that if it is going to get all fumed up and beat up by being close to "traffic," then it might be best to come up with another plan. Thanks for caring so much to ask!
Would it be ok to hang a flag in a window of my house or would that be distasteful? It would be in the vertical position, so the union would be in the upper left corner as a visitor would be looking at it. It is also a window that faces south and is, coincidentally, in the upper left corner of my house as you look at it.
I want to mount a worn flag that I replaced on a finished stained peace of wood and cover it with Plexiglas would there a proper way to fasten it to the board
