How to Properly Display the American Flag
More Like This
My company is building a concrete pad around the flag pole and putting picnic tables there for a non-smoking area. I'm president of the local VFW Auxilliary and am not sure this is proper.
So I have seen the US Flag in Blue and white strips. What it that or what does it mean?
What about lighting? I see flags flying at night with no lights on them. Is that improper display?
Flags are supposed to be raised in the mornings and taken in at night, however if left on a flag pole at night they should be well lighted as respect. They should be brought in in bad weather.
I have a beautifully painted flag that is 3ft x 3 ft and am wondering if it can set on the ground in front of my house. K have nowhere to hang it in front of my house due to windows... thanks.
Hi, Lisa: Because it is a square, not a proper rectangle, and because it is "painted," this sounds like flag art on wood to us and would be OK to lean up against your house or set up on the ground. If it is some sort of true fabric flag, then no, as Anne correctly (thanks!) points out. Thanks for asking!
