How to Properly Display the American Flag

Hi, Scott: When a line of any color is added to Old Glory, by definition she is no longer our national flag but instead just a decoration, like the patch for a police or fire department would be. And since Freedom of Speech allows us to do whatever we want to Old Glory, this would be considered not so much a desecration as more or less the removal of Old Glory from the uniform. Thanks for caring so much to ask!
Hi, Arthur: Well, the short answer is "any way that works," and by saying this we don't mean any disrespect. Essentially, Old Glory is lowered until the bottom can be unclipped. Then, one by one, the three "free" corners are gathered in one hand while she is lowered to a point where the top can be unclipped and the fourth corner secured in one or both hands. Then, she is simply gathered up to be folded into her three-star triangle as best as possible, all the time trying to keep her from touching the ground. Here's the thing, though: It's the thought that counts! This is a case where we all just have to do the best we can. Thanks for being so patriotic to ask!
