How to Properly Display the American Flag

Hi, Ken: The left hand holds the base of the flag or grasps the staff slightly above the belted flag holder, if one is being used. The right hand grasps the staff about 2 feet higher up. Note, though, that the right hand does not grip in a "straight" way, as though shaking hands, but instead is twisted slightly away from the carrier so that the palm of the hand is facing the carrier. Thanks for being so patriotic to ask!
Hi, Lynn: Yes, such a practice is certainly protected by the Freedom of Speech for which Old Glory stands. And while every case is different, it's important to remember that you can be a patriotic flag-lover without having been in the military, just as you can serve Uncle Sam in some other way than in uniform. Or, you can just plain love Old Glory and the country she stands for. Thanks for caring so much to ask!
