I want Standard time...circadian rhythm time...the real eternal time. Here's the cosmic joke, in my book. In winter, when the sun is at its furthest South, it is dark in Oregon at 5pm. So, with DST, it would be 6. But in the morning, with DST, it would be dark til 8:30am! That's dangerous for everyone during all morning commutes! No matter which, it's dark for most of the night. In the summer, it says light til 10pm or a bit longer. Who is out actually doing anything at that time? I look at the clock and imagine it's SDT and it's light til 9:30. That's plenty enough time! End of story!
Mary says “ Who is out actually doing anything at that time? “ referring to getting dark at 10pm in the summer in the northern states.
Me for one, I enjoy long twilight time in the summer. But on the other hand, if permanent Standard time is enacted, it will be light at 4:30 in the morning during the summer. So who besides farmers will be doing anything besides sleeping (or trying) at that time?
Face it folks, the twice yearly switch actually works if you think about it. Toughen up and quit your bitchin!
So it’s better for evening commutes to be dark than morning commutes. Nonsense
Either way one of them will be in the dark. You can’t have everything.
Standard for me. Natural rhythm shouldn't be tampered with IMO. It reeks havoc when you have a baby in the mix.
I agree with all the folks who favor Standard Time over Daylight Savings Time. As several have stated, there is the same amount of sunshine in 24 hours. DST is so very disruptive to the body. For me it takes most of that time to adjust to having to get up earlier. I don't feel like an adequate sample was taken for those polls and that is why it seems skewed to DST.
I prefer Standard time. I like having more daylight and Im sure seniors who dont like to drive in the dark would prefer it as well. I have an autoimmune issue so changing the clocks kill me every time. Why cant each state decide? Arizona doesn't follow it they arent following the governments rule so why doesnt each state decide?
Man always seems to think he knows best and is forever changing the "natural" to man-made. The weather is just such an example. Instead of man adapting to natural time, he changes the time to suit himself. GOD knows best!!!!! There are the same number of light hours in a day regardless of whether it is called "daylight" or "standard" time. Enough already! I say away with Daylight Savings Time (DST) and in with Standard Time (EST for NC). It's been proven that this changing back and forth is bad for our health and doesn't really "save" much of anything. But, alas, when does the government concern itself with our health? Afterall, it was proven that driving 55 saves lives so what do they do--increase the speed limit to 70 or more! That lack of concern shows in many ways, including the many unsafe chemicals allowed on and in the food we eat, drink, and put on our bodies. It is way past time we do away with DST and return to Standard Time. I vote DOWN WITH DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.
I would like it to be daylight savings time year round.
Me too!!!
