I saw nothing in the above exchanges regarding the condition of the flag we raise. If it is tattered aren't we meant to retire it?
When walking by a flag outside, are you to stop and salute, or put hand over heart, or is it not to be done ?
Hi, Col. Larry: Although this practice is not suggested by code or practice, It is perfectly OK to do so. However, if even a fraction of our population did it, you can imagine the vast disruption that would be visited on uncountable numbers of foot traffic flows and patterns. In lieu of stopping or putting hand over heart (which, again, is perfectly fine to do), we have been known to suggest that when passing Old Glory, patriotic folks might consider offering a silent prayer or good thought for those who serve—everywhere.
is there a protocol that states the eagle flies ONLY atop the American flag? I've seen state flags and others in schools and hospitals with the eagle finial... want to be able to refer the owners to the proper protocol for using a ball or spear, but NOT the eagle Thank you
Is the flag used for "back the blue", black and white with the blue stripe, acceptable use of the American flag?
Thank you.
Thank you for educating me. When the flag is painted on a building or machinery along with a company's logo or logos, is it correct to say that the flag be painted, above all other company logos?

Hi, Shirley: Anything's possible, but by definition this would no longer be the American flag. Thanks for asking!
